Diocesan Museum at the Hofburg Palace
The Diocesan Museum, with its valuable collection of mediaeval and modern sacred art is located in the Hofburg Palace in the diocesan town of Bressanone. Until 1964 the Hofburg Palace was the Bishop's residence, to which various furnishings and fitments, textiles, documents and architect's plans bear witness. Seventy exhibition rooms, on three floors, display Bressanone's Cathedral Treasury, together with precious mediaeval sculptures from South Tyrol and artwork dating from Romanticism to the 20th century. Special exhibitions are often mounted in the Hofburg Palace in Bressanone. A visit to the Diocesan Museum is not to be missed.
