The hiking tip par excellence for the autumn in South Tyrol is the Isarco Valley Chestnut Trail, also known as the "Keschtnweg". It links the sunny slopes between Bolzano and Bressanone and can be walked in stages. All along the way there are comfortable wine restaurants and inns. Between the end of September and the beginning of November it is the Törggelen season, when the restaurants and inns tempt the hiker in to taste the new young wine. The colourful glory of the mixed woodland, the rich green of the meadows and the chestnut groves give a vivid glimpse into the natural world.
